WHO USES THE DOCUMENTATION CENTRE
The unit s the best center for students, Legal
practitioners, magistrates, judges, CBOs, NGOs,
researchers, law enforcement officials, elected
representatives and members of the general public.
WHEN WAS IHRHL DOCUMENTATION CENTRE ESTABLISHED
It was established in August 1998 when the Institute came
into stream with the sole purpose of Acquiring,
Processing, Storing and Dissemination of information
towards empowering the masses to enable them identify and
assert their interest.
THE MISSION OF THE DOCUMENTATION CENTRE
The primary objective of IHRHL Library is to effectively
create the culture of Rights and responsibilities in
Nigeria through the provision of varied materials on the
areas of: -
Humanities
International Human Rights
Environmental/ Ecosystem
Contemporary International Law
Public interest Advocacy
Civil Education
Alternative conflict Resolution

WHAT DOES THE CENTRE DO
1) Catalogue and classify these information materials for
easy retrieval by users. Using the Dewey decimal
classification scheme and the cutter list.
2) Documents both internal and external materials used for
Seminars, Workshops and Trainings.
3) Distributes and circulates Human Rights related
materials like the Institute’s quarterly magazine, The
Defender, Policy Advocacy Update etc. to other
organizations and individuals alike.
4) Networks with other libraries for an effective exchange
of information materials.
5) Documents the year-to-year activities of the Institute,
through the design of the Institutes Activities Table,
which the unit updates from time to time.
